After the stunning revelation Jesus spoke - that the magnificent temple they were leaving was going to be destroyed (Mark 13:2) - some of the disciples wanted to know two things:

  • When will these things happen?
  • What will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?

These are thoughtful questions, carefully considered by Peter, James, John, and Andrew. The destruction of the temple was clearly a serious concern because it represented the place they worshiped the God of Abraham, of Moses. It represented thousands of years of Jewish history and was in fact the center of their identity.

What we ask of Jesus Christ sincerely He answers sincerely. Over the next six weeks, we will examine Jesus' response to these questions. He had a lot to say, and it's important to us, too.
