And then I saw Him in a crowd
A lot of people had gathered round Him
The beggars shouted and the lepers called Him
The old man said nothing
He just stared about him

All going down to see the Lord Jesus
All going down to see the Lord Jesus
All going down...

Then came a man before His feet he fell
Unclean said the leper and rang his bell
Felt the palm of a hand touch his head
"Go now! Go now! You're a new man instead"
All going down to see the Lord Jesus...

Imagine what it must have been like when Jesus walked the earth. The lyrics of this song paint an emotional picture of the human suffering and need Jesus saw before Him. All they knew was that Jesus could meet their present need - they had no idea that His purpose would also bring reconciliation between God and fallen man for all future generations.

The evil spirits knew, but they weren't allowed to talk... yet.

We need Jesus, too. and we need to pursue Jesus with the same zeal that these people did. We may be perfectly healthy, successful, and content, but we still must pursue Jesus as though our infirmity is present and fatal - just as the lepers did. Without Jesus, we can't be right with God. He suffered and spilled His blood so that we can be right with God, and in doing so, brought us into eternal life.

Freddie Mercury and thousands of others have enjoyed 'rock star' status for a brief time. But neither they nor their music redeemed anyone of their sins. And all of them will die and meet the only real 'rock star' of all time - the one who transcends time and fashion.

Only one deserves your devotion, and he's not a mere rock star or celebrity guru. He is Jesus Christ - and He won't disappoint.
