Back when Jesus walked the earth, there was a lot of speculation as to who he was. As indicated in this passage, some thought He was John the Baptist, some said Elijah, others said one of the prophets (Mark 8:28). If you're looking for indications that the Bible advocates any notion of reincarnation, this is about as close as you'll get. Really, they were probably thinking in terms of Jesus being one of these great prophets risen from the dead.

When looking for evidence of an answered prayer, we only have our expectations to use as a template for how God has responded to us. But God isn't limited in the slightest by our expectations or previous experiences - He is a God of unlimited possibilities.

Today, as in all generations, we're taught the economic principle of the scarcity of needed resources. Rarely do we hear of Jesus' more accurate principle of abundance for all our needs. In Jesus' day, the economists were the Pharisees and those in political power. Each used their authority to control the masses by their own concepts of scarcity. We see this in the world today.

Through their devoted study of the scriptures, the Pharisees had a pretty good idea of how to recognize the Messiah, but for some strange reason, they did not recognize Jesus as Messiah. Ironically, the scriptures they studied even told them they wouldn't:
Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving (Isaiah 6:9)

It seems we've heard this story before (see The Big Picnic - Mark 6:30-44). But this is a different occasion altogether. The growing crowd - about four thousand - had been with Jesus for three days, and were in a remote place where there wasn't enough food available.
